About the Author

Louise B. Marshall

Early Life & Inspiration

Born in the aftermath of World War II in northern England, Louise grew up surrounded by the ruins and rationing that defined her generation. Even as a child, she learned the value of resilience and resourcefulness—traits she honed while delivering newspapers by bicycle through windswept streets. Her family’s unwavering positivity in hard times instilled in her the motto that would guide her entire life: “Keep Pedaling – Don’t Give Up.”

A Journey into Entrepreneurship

After earning a diploma in Business Administration from the University of Leeds, Louise launched her first venture in the 1970s: a small import–export firm specializing in British textiles. Over the next two decades she built and sold multiple companies, each time navigating market downturns, shifting trade regulations, and fierce competition. In 1985, Louise made the bold decision to emigrate to California, where she founded LB Consulting, helping other entrepreneurs scale their businesses while championing ethical leadership.

The Memoir & Its Mission

Keep Pedaling L.B. is more than a personal history—it’s a roadmap for anyone facing obstacles. In candid prose, Louise shares stories of financial setbacks, cultural adjustments after moving overseas, and the turning points that reignited her passion. Her goal with this memoir is twofold: to honor the struggles of her childhood generation, and to empower readers today with proven strategies for perseverance and reinvention.

Giving Back & Personal Passions

Today, Louise splits her time between Auburn, California, and speaking engagements around the world. She mentors young founders through the Women’s Business Network, volunteers with food-security nonprofits, and still finds time to ride—averaging 100+ miles per week on gravel roads. When she’s not cycling, you’ll find her gardening heirloom vegetables or writing essays on the art of resilience.
